At The Pilates Academy, we primarily focus on mat, ball and small apparatus. Starting with a structured 10-class beginner's course which teaches you the Pilates Method principles and a basic routine; you will build on this with more challenging exercises in progressive levels. Most pilates exercises are undertaken on the floor in a supported position which allows you to focus on strengthening and streamlining core postural muscles while improving body alignment, freedom of movement and your overall fitness and tone.

The Pilates Academy is located in Joondalup, Western Australia (behind HouseWorks) and is the only dedicated Pilates studio with fully accredited instructors serving Perth's northern suburbs.

Our next beginner Pilates class will commence Monday 8th March.

You will need to commit to two (2) classes per week for five (5) weeks.
cost is $150. Payable with your enrolment.

Online enrolment is now open. Cost is $150. Enrol online Please view the beginner page for the full timetable to confirm you can attend both Monday and tuesday nights.. Your enrolment fee is payable upfront. It is worth noting that our classes are always oversubscribed so book and PAY early. You are not enrolled until you pay.

You can enrol online in advance. Be sure to send your payment.

New Beginner Yoga class starts February 3rd - Wednesday 7pm.

To ensure comittment and progression; Yoga classes will be by enrolment only for Beginners.
Cost for 8-week Beginner Yoga is $120. Enrolment is only accepted when Payment has been made.

On-going students can then continue as part of their regular Multi-Pass purchase.

Floor Classes

Floor classes are taught by experienced and accredited instructors with lots of hands-on correction to make sure you are working properly. Each class lasts for 55 minutes and uses small apparatus and your own body weight to deliver a safe and effective fat-buring workout.

What to wear

  • Comfortable clothes that won't restrict your movement but enable the instructor to 'see' what your muscles are doing.
  • Bring your own exercise mat and a towel (it's a little unhygienic to share mats)
  • We recommend you do not eat a large meal for at least 2 hours before class.

Who is it Pilates for?

  • Anyone committed to improving their total fitness, posture and appearance. All ages, all sizes.
  • People seeking a non-aerobic style of gaining long, lean muscle without the bulk.
  • Professional sportspersons seeking advanced conditioning programs to enhance performance.
  • Mild back pain sufferers (this is not rehabilitative Pilates).
  • Those wishing to release the physical stress in their lives by releasing the physical stress in their body.

Instructor's Profile:

Principal Instructor: Terri Hinch

 

 

 

 

Terri is a Certified Practitioner of Pilates Studio, Certificate IV in Pilates Instruction and Pilates Matwork, and has been teaching Pilates for more than 10 years. She completed her training courses with well renowned training organizations such as US-based Polestar Pilates, Swiss/Australian training orgasnistion art-of-motion; Pilatesa International as well as The Pilates Institute (Australia).

Terri also lectures for art-of-motion www.art-of-motion.com.au and is a registered provider for various health funds. She holds a GradDip. Business, BA English

Her own background in classical ballet, ballroom, weight training and Ashtanga yoga, provide a thorough understanding of physical movement and the benefits of achieving a balance between strength and flexibility. As a mother of two, she can speak personally about the benefits of Pilates before and throughout pregnancy, and is also an experienced teacher in this field. Through the establishment of her business, The Pilates Academy 2000, Terri has brought her extensive experience together in an integrated approach to Pilates that will change the way you feel about your body, and your body feels about you. She is a firm believer in educating her clients and has a great passion for helping others to help themselves
